On Thursday we will celebrate Macy being home SIX MONTHS!!! HALF A YEAR!!! She has now been with us longer than she was in the orphanage and transition home combined. We are AMAZED at this sweet child EVERY SINGLE DAY! It's only taken me six months, but I've finally finished her Adoption Video. For those of you who don't know, I am TOTALLY "computer stupid", so accomplishing this is nothing short of a miracle. I hope you enjoy. I'm also hoping someday I can watch it without needing a tissue.
(NOTE: BE SURE to scroll to the BOTTOM of THIS page, turn off the music on the Playlist - stop is the circle with the two lines, Mom - that way you can hear the music that goes along with the video.)
Oh, and if you'd rather see it FULL SCREEN (the way I like to see it) check it out on Vimeo by clicking HERE.
Okay...NOW you are ready to watch! ENJOY!!!!

What made my heart happy today...
I just now went to the mailbox and was tickled to find a cd with pictures on it that another traveling family had taken. This adoptive father traveled to Macy's hometown to visit with his children's birthfamily, and was able to meet with Macy's birthmom and older brother as well. (Thanks, Jim!) Above is pictured Macy's sweet "tummy Mommy" with a picture of our precious girl! I think of this woman EVERY SINGLE DAY as I am sure she thinks of her sweet daughter every day as well. It makes my heart VERY happy to see her smiling while looking at pictures of Macy (with her Daddy in the background). Oh happy Friday for me!

One Week
We will board a plane in one week to fly to Ethiopia. One week. Seriously. I prayed for this month to fly by, and BOY did it ever! And now with one week to go, I have a variety of crazy emotions.
I am SO excited! Just the THOUGHT of me seeing and holding Macy gets me choked up. This is my DAUGHTER. In the many years ahead of us I will watch her grow, learn, go to school, go to prom, get married - the list goes on and on. We have many years of Mommy/Daughter stuff ahead of us. But before any of this happens I am going to meet her in an orphanage on the other side of the world. It's really hard to fathom.
The other major emotion I am feeling is fear. And anxiety. And stress. Okay, so I know that is technically three emotions. But right now I can't really distinguish one from another. I am a basketcase thinking of leaving Aidan, Hannah, and Houston. The "what-ifs" come creeping in on me, and I panic. WHAT IF the plane crashes? WHAT IF something happens to one of them and I am not here? WHAT IF? And yes, they are going to be in PERFECTLY good hands. My mom is the brave soul keeping them, and other than Jason and I, there is no one on Earth who knows them as well as she does. She visits nearly everyday, and knows all of their funny little quirks. And she's sooooo overprotective - so I am not at all worried about their safety. Seriously - she's that kind of grandma that would totally beat the crap out of anyone who looked at her grandbabies wrong. It's US I am worried about. It's flying across the ocean to a region of the world that isn't exactly super-safe right now. (And it doesn't help that my crazy husband keeps talking about terrorist attempts.) Yes, I know my kids are going to be fine. Yes, I know God is in control of it all anyway. I just need some prayer to rest MY soul. I want to be cool, calm, and collected (yeah, right!) when I meet our Macy for the first time.
But what it boils down to is that it doesn't matter how nervous, stressed and anxious I am - in seven days I am going to get on that plane (and then another plane...and then another plane) to fly across the ocean to meet our girl. It just has to be done - it's part of the process. I am counting on God to ease my spirit and calm my fears - because there's no way I can do this without Him.
But isn't that how it's SUPPOSED to be?
One week folks. One week!

Donation Drive!!!
As I wait (impatiently) wait for our referral call, I have decided to go ahead and start our DONATION DRIVE of items we will be taking to donate to Macy's orphanage and the WACAP Transition House. Both homes rely greatly on these donated items to provide for the children in their care. Since we are now traveling twice (once for court, once for pick-up) we will be able to take items both times we travel. We are also going to need monetary donations to pay for the "overweight" luggage we will have traveling with for all these supplies. Donations can also be made for US to do the shopping for the items that nobody donates. If you could purchase ANY of the items below, I know they would make some precious orphans and their caregivers very VERY happy!
I made a fancy-smancy chart with the items and prices, but of course I can't figure out how to cut and paste that onto my blog! I'll keep trying! But just to let you know, I found all of these items at our local Walmart. Most of the items are under $5. Can't you spare $5 to help "the least of these"? The items that you donate may very well be helping OUR MACY until we can come pick her up!
I am going to have a tub on my front porch if anyone wants to drop off donated items. (Message me if you need the address.) Or you can drop them off at Jason's office or I'll even come pick them up from you!

Beach Trip 2010
We just got back from our first (and last!) vacation as a family of five! We went with my Mom to Perdido Key, which is right next to Gulf Shores. By day three of our trip the oil started washing up, but luckily our condo had a great pool as well, so all was good! We were very "busy" with our three young'uns, and Jason and I just laughed at the thought of doing this next year with FOUR kiddos. How wonderful thinking about our next trip to the beach including Macy (and hopefully a babysitter)! Enjoy the pics above AND below in the previous post. (And if you know how I can add more than 5 pics to a post at a time, PLEASE let me know!)
